Development of Parking Space App

The main purpose of this project is to reduce the wait and search time for an individual who is looking to park his or her vehicle at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach campus. This project is to help in reducing fuel consumption as well as making campus roads safer. An additional benefit is the ability to continuously monitor all parking lots on campus increasing overall campus safety.

Explosion of millimeter-wave (mm-wave) bandwidth opens up applications in 5G wireless systems spanning communications, localization, imaging, and radar. This project addresses challenges in mathematics, engineering, and science in developing efficient wideband beamformers based on sparse factorizations of the matrix called-delay Vandermonde matrices (DVM). The proposed highly integrated approach is attractive for mobile applications including 5G smart devices, the internet of things, mobile robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, and other emerging applications focused on mm-waves.

Distributed Detection and Control of Collective Behaviors in Multi-agent Systems

Multi-agent systems can be defined as a group of dynamical systems, in which certain emergent behaviors are exhibited through the local interaction among group members that individually have the capability of self-operating. The key issues we study include the analysis of network controllability and the design of coordination control protocol in order to achieve autonomous and optimal tasking allocation. Also, the detection and resilient control of emergent behaviors in large scale multi-agent systems are of keen interest.
